AJC Honors Wayne Barsky with the 30th Annual Learned Hand Award

Wayne Barsky, partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, was honored with AJC’s (American Jewish Committee) prestigious Learned Hand Award on March 17, 2010. The words of Judge Learned Hand echoed throughout the evening where Los Angeles’ finest attorneys, judges and community leaders gathered to pay tribute to Barsky, one of the leading lawyers in the country on intellectual property law. Read his bio by clicking here. Barsky was presented the award by his long time partner and friend, Scott Edelman.

Judge A. Howard Matz, United States District Court Judge for the Central District of California since 1998, was the guest speaker of the evening. Judge Matz spoke about the theme for the night, “America’s Promise: Justice, Equality and Liberty” and the meaning of the “good life” in American society. You can read his speech here.

Among the honored guests were past recipients of the Learned Hand Award, which was initially presented in 1980. Among the recipients in the audience were Morgan Chu (2003) who also gave the welcoming remarks, Jerome L. Coben (2004), Alan Friedman (2006), Marshall Grossman (2002), John J. Quinn (1994), Bruce Ramer (2005), John A. Schulman (2009), Lisa Specht (2000), and Richard Volpert (1999).
