Leadership Giving

These 'honor societies' listed below provide an exclusive venue for AJC members to interact with top level diplomats, elected officials, scholars, and world leaders. If you have an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn - this is the opportunity for you! Read below to learn about previous programs.

The National Leadership Council (NLC) are honor societies that recognize the most generous supporters of AJC. With an entry level gift of $10,000 for NLC. NLC offer its members unique involvement in AJC programs, missions, meetings and delegations. Members receive reports on AJC's national and international work in areas of special concern. Locally, participants in NLC are invited to special receptions held in private homes with speakers who address issues of immediate concern. Previous events include a private reception with His Royal Highness Prince Zeid Ra'ad Zeid Al-Hussein, Ambassador to the United Nations for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a private reception with Eva Nowotny, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the United States, amongst others.

The President's Council offers community leaders accurate, up-to-the-minute information about important current events and issues that impact our community, the United States, the Middle East and the world. Meetings are held in country clubs and in private homes. Membership in the President's Council requires a minimum annual donation of $1,000. Previous events include Shachar Zahavi, founder of Israel's Humanitarian Aid organization IsraAID, renowned professor Dr. Moshe Halbertal of the Shalom Hartman Institute, Ha'aretz Chief U.S. Correspondent Shmuel Rosner, and the founder of Israel's humanitarian aid organization, IsraAid.

NLC Reception with Consul General Wolfgang Drautz and Deidre Berger

On November 29th 2009 more than 60 National Leadership Council members attended a reception with distinguished guests: Consul General of Germany Wolfgang Drautz and Diedre Berger, Director of AJC’s Berlin office and the Lawrence and Lee Ramer Center of German-Jewish Relations. The program was moderated by AJC Board member Marcie Goldstein. Deidre Berger spoke about her experiences as an NPR reporter on November 9th 1989, the day the Berlin Wall was torn down. The discussion covered the successes and challenges of reuniting Germany, reconciliation following the opening of the Stazi archives, nostalgia in former East Germany for the Communist era, and the role of education in fighting xenophobia and anti-Semitism.
