Israel Film Festival – AJC Screening of The Band's Visit

An Egyptian police band travels to Israel for an Arab cultural festival, only to arrive in the wrong town.

AJC Middle East Office Director Updates LA

More than one hundred attendees gathered at Brentwood Country Club for a private reception to hear a Middle East update from Eran Lerman, AJC's Jerusalem Office Director. Hosted by an outreach committee of Brentwood members led by Jackie and Howard Banchik, the event offered a unique opportunity to learn about the work of AJC in Israel. Israel at 60 - 'Where do we go from here?' with Dr. Moshe Halbertal

 On a special trip from Israel, Dr. Moshe Halbertal, professor of Jewish thought and philosophy at Hebrew University and a fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, shared an informative and dynamic briefing on "israel at 60" with members of AJC's President's Council at Hillcrest Country Club. A renowned author and speaker, Dr. Labertal was the recipient of the Goren Goldstein Award for the best book in Jewish thought in 1997-2000. AJC celebrates Israel@60. American Jewish Committee hosted a special concert "Live For Sderot" on Tuesday, February 26 in Beverly Hills.  The concert included a performance by Ninet Tayeb (winner of Israel's "American Idol") with greetings from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Israel's Consul General Jacob Dayan. Proceeds from ticket sales went to help the children of Sderot affected by the constant bombings.
